How It Works

Green Silicon Valley brings free environmental education directly to classrooms. Here's how we connect teachers with trained student volunteers.

The Process

From Request to Classroom

Teacher Joins Waitlist

Teachers submit a simple form with their school name, grade level, class size, and preferred topics. No account needed.

1

What teachers provide: School info, grade levels (K-8), number of classes, topic preferences, and available dates.

We Find a Match

Our team matches teachers with a trained volunteer group in their area. Groups are typically 3-6 high school or college students.

2

Matching criteria: Geographic proximity, topic expertise, schedule availability, and grade level experience.

Schedule & Prepare

The volunteer group contacts the teacher to confirm the date. Volunteers prepare materials and the teacher receives a brief overview.

3

Teacher prep required: None! Just provide the time slot. We handle all materials and activities.

Presentation Day

Volunteers arrive and deliver a 45-minute presentation with slides, hands-on activities, and Q&A. Every student gets a take-home kit.

4

What students get: An engaging presentation, hands-on activity, and materials to continue learning at home.
